This has been such a crazy busy holiday season for me. Even though it’s almost officially over (we still have New Years!), things are still moving at lightening speed. One of the highlights of the last couple of months was being able to attend Mixed Con 2013 courtesy of my sweet friends at Dixie Crystals.
The weekend was held in the historic Mountain Lake Lodge in Pembroke, VA. This gorgeous property is nestled in Virginia’s Blue Ridge Mountains and it was the location site for the movie Dirty Dancing. It’s really cool to walk around and see so much of what you remember from one of the best movies of that time. I’ve never seen it in the summer but the mountains in the snow are breathtaking.
I arrived a night early in order to help my sponsor and was invited to a wonderful dinner at a restaurant called The Bank. It’s called that because it used to be an old bank building. Dinner was AMAZING and the company even better.
We had wine and snacks.
It was the perfect way to kick off the weekend! There are lots of recipes to make your own scrubs over at Dixie Crystals site. They are all so wonderful it’s hard to choose!
Saturday we had sessions all day with topics such as getting published writing a cookbook and anything you ever wanted to ask a brand. It was a full day of learning peppered with hands on activities with McCormick Spices.
On Sunday we all got ready to say our goodbyes. We had breakfast together and then since my flight was a later afternoon time, I was able to walk around outside and take some pictures.
I finally sat down next to the fire and read for a while.
By the time I left I was so pumped and motivated and just rejuvenated from a weekend with friends in such a gorgeous mountain setting. Thanks again Dixie Crystals and Mixed Con 2013 for such a wonderful weekend!
