Top Fashion Trends I’m Loving Right Now
My first fashion post…wwhhhhaaaattt?? Yep! I know some of you that I went to high school with (there are a couple I KNOW that read this blog…I’m not making this up) are thinking, “is she serious?” See I used to wear the least attractive clothing possible to school because I was so
lazy tired when I woke up. I would throw on whatever was close, normally jeans and an old t-shirt (I can’t believe I am putting this in writing ON THE INTERNET) and run out the door. It’s really only been the last ten years or so that this love of fashion has developed. I still throw on my jeans and old t-shirts at times but that’s only when I’m really feeling like I want to and not out of laziness exhaustion. But today I’m going to review the top fashion trends I’m loving right now!
I’m going to go over some of the trends that I love with you. Some are super fresh for Fall 2012 and some have been around a while but I still love ‘em!
I’m going over five this time but more to come later. Feel free to comment at the bottom of this post and tell me the trends you love. It makes it so much more fun for me when you guys talk back!
Also, a little disclaimer first. I totally understand that I can’t just take a picture from the internet and use it on my blog just because I give credit to the person who owns said photo. That is copy write infringement and is NOT ok but it happens on millions of sites every day. I can however use a photo under the Fair Use clause (which I know is very muddy sometimes although I took a class on it and have researched on my own very extensively) under the comment and review section. In regard to these photos, I am reviewing the products and also commenting (and linking to the original site out of courtesy) and truly believe I am using the Fair Use clause in the manner it was developed. Every single photo taken everywhere is protected by copy write laws and there are only a few small examples of ways they can be used on someone’s blog without express permission. It’s really a big deal. Ok…let’s get on with it.
On the runways of fashion shows during fashion week many designers went heavy on the leather. Givenchy, Alexander Wang, Versace all had nearly head to toe leather looks. Look around a bit for those pictures. Some of you are saying “So? Why do we care? We can’t wear that stuff. It’s crazy!” Well, I’ll tell you. A runway look in a high fashion show is an artistic expression of the designers vision and is, in many cases, not meant to be worn exactly as it is presented. One thing a lot of people don’t understand about runway fashion is that they are the inspiration for ready to wear pieces that we (the average housewife) would go to the store and buy. This picture from a Bebe add is more my speed (and price range) but is representative of what those designers were trying to portray. Does it make sense how a Fall line at a HIGH FASHION show would be important to the everyday woman?
I love this leather skirt and even the dress but I would pair them with something unexpected and feminine to tone down the harshness a bit. Maybe some pretty jewelry like a heavy stack of large pearl bracelets. Bebe does an excellent job in this campaign of taking what the designers showed on the runways and turning them into looks we would all wear. Love it!
Oh and Burberry has a GORGEOUS black trench with python sleeves that I’m dying for! This girl is super thin but this trench also appears to be slimming so maybe it would do that for me, too? That is what they want me to think though isn’t it?
It can be found here on Burberry’s website for purchase.
They’re (the high fashion shows that designers put on for fashion week and other times) theatrical that’s why it’s called a show.
The peplum was over exaggerated this fall with models having padding added to hips at shows like Lanvin, Stella McCartney, Marc Jacobs and many others. Poke around online and see for yourself. I think the designers were trying to make sure we understood that that’s a big trend and how much they love the peplum. We would never pad our clothing to exaggerate our hips but I do like the peplum tops and dresses and skirts when they fit correctly. Here’s another Bebe example of something that was on the runways this Fall that I would wear tomorrow in it’s more ready to wear form.
The girl on the far right in the sequined pencil skirt and peplum leather top. She’s stunning and her outfit is ridiculous! Love. So many of my trend picks coming together in one picture! Couldn’t have been more perfect! This look can be purchased here at Bebe.com.
There was also an emphasis on fur (synthetic of course) but only as accents. I’m warming up to that. It’ll have to be exactly the right thing for me to wear it so I’ll let you know when I find it.
A few trends, I may be a little behind, that I am still loving are the red bag and the pencil skirt. The sheer shirt is really hot right now, too.
I love choosing a red bag to add flavor to just about any outfit as long as it’s a neutral outfit. A red bag can be worn with black, white, grey, camel, turquoise among other things so step out of your comfort zone and try it. It’s so much fun! Turquoise bags work the same way! Just look at this model. See, she’s having a blast!
This is a Michael Kors Holiday 2012 ad.
And last but not least is a trend that is literally all OVER the place. Sometimes that’s a bad thing if it’s overdone but I still love the pencil skirt. It’s appears to be in two of the above pictures. Mine is the wrap type like an Herve Leger dress. He really started this whole wrap dress/skirt trend that’s been around a while. You used to only see these dresses on celebrities when they first came out and although I can’t afford one of his dresses, I do have access to so many that are made sort of copying his design. I love my skirt. It’s so comfortable and easy to wear. A pencil skirt goes so well with so many things. Chunky booties or spikey heels. You could even pair one with a boyfriend tee to give it a little edge and dress it down a bit. If you don’t have one, they’re not super pricey and well worth going to hunt one down.
So, those are the trends I’m loving right now. What about you? Anything you find you can’t live without? What’s your go-to outfit for dinner out? Is there something you are completely OVER? Let’s discuss.
As always, thank you so much for stopping by and spending a few minutes of your day with me. I love you bunches for it. I really do!
